
Carol L. Perkins
President of Columbus Board of Education
Carol has approximately 35 years of experience in the public and private sectors. With 27 years’ experience with the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA), Carol has held numerous positions in the Authority. In her current position as Director of Mobility Services, she is responsible for the transportation service for customers who are disabled, seniors, and those who need transportation to work.
In 2007, she was appointed and later elected to serve as a Member of the Columbus Board of Education. She served as Vice President and for the past three years served as President.
Carol has served on numerous boards such as the Columbus Urban League, Past President and Treasurer of The Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO). In 2011, she was appointed by Mayor Coleman to serve on the board of the Central Ohio Workforce Investment Corporation (COWIC).
Carol holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Franklin University.
She and her husband Estes, a Senior Professor at DeVry University, have been married for 36 years. They have two adult children, and two grandchildren. Carol is an active member of New Salem Baptist Missionary Church.
