Justice of the Ohio Supereme Court
Mike Skindell, 49, has been a dedicated public servant for more than 25 years who has always put people first. Skindell will restore balance to the Ohio Supreme Court. As a justice, he will be impartial and fair.
Currently, Skindell is a state senator from Lakewood representing the 23rd District in the Cleveland area. He was a state representative from 2003-2010, and a former Lakewood Council Member at Large from 1998-2002. As a lawmaker, Skindell’s legislative record is an open book.
He was a tireless voice for working and middle class families, high quality education for all children and lower tuition for college students and their families. Skindell voted against Senate Bill 5, the unfair, unsafe law that hurt us all.
He also supported voting rights, affordable health care and lower prescription drug costs for the elderly. Skindell tirelessly worked for reasonable gas and electric rates, greater consumer protections, the environment and the development of Ohio’s renewable energy resources.
Skindell served on key committees in the House and Senate, including the Finance committees that write state budgets. He was named legislator of the year by groups representing children, pediatrics, mental health and the environment. He has been in private law practice since 1999. For ten years prior, he was a hearing officer for the Ohio Department of Health where he presided over rulings to protect the elderly in nursing homes, the disabled in group homes, improve living conditions for migrant farm workers and ensure the milk supply was sanitary.
Skindell was graduated with a Juris Doctorate from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1987 after graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Political Science from Walsh College in 1983.
