David W. Robinson
State Representative 21st Ohio House District
David Robinson is a Central Ohio Native, and lives in Worthington with his wife, Lorraine, and two Daughters, Tulia and Beatrix. He graduated Cum Laude from The Ohio State University with a B.S.B.A. in Honors Accounting. He holds a Masters Degree in Theology from the Chicago Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Theology and Psychology from Emory University. He is the author of “Conscience and Jung’s Moral Vision,” published in 2005 by Paulist Press.
David is the Senior Vice President of Marcy Adhesives, a local, family-owned manufacturing company that works with polymers and adhesives, and supplies Ohio-made products to the glass and automotive industries. The company has customers in over twenty five countries on six continents, and currently holds three patents (with one pending). Robinson, in over sixteen years with the company, has had primary responsibility for business development and the functional design and marketing of new products.
Robinson’s first significant entry into public service began in 1988, at age 26, when he planned and executed the Ride for Reason; a solo cross-country bicycle fundraising and public awareness campaign that benefited the Alzheimer’s Association. The Ride, from Miami to Seattle (total of over 4,500 miles), was coordinated with local Alzheimer’s Association chapters in 25 cities, and resulted in over 125 media events (TV, radio, and print) and over $50,000 in donations.
Robinson returned to public advocacy in 2007 by delivering public, pro bono presentations on the related issues of the clean-energy economy, the science of climate change, and the role of technological/policy solutions. During 2007, Robinson delivered presentations to a diverse range of organizations and forums accross Ohio, including General Electric Aviation group, the Cincinnati Zoo, classes at OSU, Otterbein, and the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission Sustainability Summit, Mayor Coleman’s Green Team, the public signing event of the Central Ohio Green Pact, and several not-for-profit organizations.
In January of 2008, Robinson declared his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Ohio’s 12th District. Winning a three-way primary with a majority of the vote, Robinson then entered the general election against a four-term Republican incumbent. Though losing the general election, the Robinson campaign garnered over 150,000 total votes and won Franklin county by nearly 10,000 votes. In 2010, Robinson ran for State Representative in Ohio’s 21st House District. Following a hard-fought campaign, the Robinson team came within 377 votes of winning, laying the groundwork for the 2012 campaign.
