Represent the 99%

Unfortunately, we are now living in an era of extreme laws being proposed to endorse the agendas of rich political donors.  During 2011, Ohioans saw much political extremism in the state, and we have seen firsthand that these extreme ideologies almost always lead to dissension, even within the ranks of those groups expected to support the extremism.

Governor Kasich sought many extreme changes in our state this past year that caused so much dissension that his approval ratings dropped to dismally low numbers, and his controversial Senate Bill 5 was the cause of much contention throughout the year between politicians and their constituents.  The proposed Personhood Amendment, another extreme piece of legislation, caused disagreements within Ohio Right to Life, and some members broke off and started a new group called Ohio Pro-Life Action.  Members of the Ohio Republican Party continue to bicker among themselves because of our extremist governor’s plan to seize unilateral control of their central committee.  The list goes on and on….

It’s sad to see how easily our political leaders support extreme viewpoints that negatively affect the 99%, simply because of the demands of the wealthy minority.  Clint Eastwood, wise philosopher that he is, said it well: “Extremism is so easy.  You've got your position, and that's it.  It doesn't take much thought.”

We are tired of being in a constant state of turmoil.  It's time for all Ohioans to demand that their legislators stop taking the easy way out, start thinking for themselves, and stand up for the majority of the people!

Think.
