The news may not have looked good for Democrats across the country last night, but there are many things to be thankful for. We are certainly thankful for all of you, and those that volunteered their time in helping us have the most successful countywide Judicial election in Franklin County Democratic Party history. We won a record six judicial seats yesterday, including unseating two of John Kasich’s appointee’s to the bench. We also held onto the 20th Ohio House District, which was one of the most competitive races in the state.
The efforts of our volunteers put us over the top. A very special thank you to Carole DePaola and Jody Scarborough for running the volunteer efforts at the Early Vote Center, and all of the volunteers and Progressive Organizations that were out there in rain, sun, sleet, and high winds to ensure Democrats had a sample ballot. Which, Democrats handily won Early Vote, including having more votes than unaffiliated voters. For all of those that canvassed, lit dropped, made phone calls, or helped in the office to get the word out to vote and to vote for our county candidates, we thank you.
Congratulations and thank you are due to all of our candidates. All of you worked hard for the Democratic values we share, we were proud to have endorsed you and to have worked with you over the past year.
While we may have had a good night in the county last night, I think we all know that there is a lot of work to be done. We will be working to build a better party, and build for the future. (After all, we will be having our first 2015 planning meetings in the next few weeks). We hope that we can count on you to help build for the future.
Thank you again.
