Ed Fitzgerald, the Democratic candidate for Ohio governor, visited Wilmington Saturday as part of his “hometown tour,” speaking out against what he called Gov. John R. Kasich's 50 percent cut to the Local Government Fund.
After being introduced by former Wilmington Mayor David Raizk, FitzGerald told the crowd of approximately 15 people at the Clinton County Courthouse, “The reason we started this hometown tour … is because the folks that actually balanced the budget are right here in places like Wilmington. According to FitzGerald, Wilmington lost $4.5 million in Local Government Funds due to Kasich's financial decisions.
